Still interested in life at 100, Roundhay resident May Haddock received a visit from the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Coun Brian Cleasby.
She moved to Leeds from Cardiff when she was 89 and has lived since then at the Holmfield Court care home on Devonshire Avenue.

She enjoyed a birthday party in Knaresborough with her three grandsons, seven great-grandchildren and 20 other relatives and friends. Her only daughter, Pauline, died last year.

Close friend Lynne Marshall said: "May played bowls for Wales and loves her sport. She follows rugby, snooker and tennis on TV.

"And she still keeps a record of her life in fine handwriting."
