An inter-faith event to celebrate a special Sikh anniversary attracted crowds to Roundhay Park.
It was held to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the scriptures named as the supreme authority of the Sikh faith.

The religious and educational four-day event at Roundhay Park was also to mark the city's 800th anniversary.

Conferences, prayer, workshops, seminars and forums for young people and women were among the activities held.

An exhibition was also open and langar – the serving of sacred vegetarian food – took place.

For children there were fun activities including a turban-tying contest and a competition to make the equivalent of chapatis.

Beeston-based Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha Leeds organised the event which saw visits from hundreds of people, including veteran Leeds celebrity Sir Jimmy Savile and dozens of school parties.

There was also an appearance by the world's oldest marathon runner, 96-year-old Fauja Singh from Essex.
