She might be stunning looking and super fit – but Nell McAndrew is to become a monster for the day in Roundhay Park.
Nell has signed up to help fight British child poverty by taking part in the First Mini Monster Challenge being staged at the Park on Sunday, May 25.

Split into teams of four, competitors have a choice of two events, the first will see each team member either run three kilometres or cycle 10.

The second event, aimed at families, challenges the teams to either run 1.5km or cycle five kilometres.

The sportathon has been organised by transport company FirstGroup and Save the Children to raise money for work on child poverty in the UK.

Some of those taking part, including Nell, are busy training for the First Monster Challenge, which will be held on the shores of Loch Ness in September.

That event will see teams slogging their way through 120km of endurance sport.

Kate Bratt-Farrar, of Save the Children Head Leeds, said: "Our relationship with FirstGroup goes from strength to strength and we are delighted with the firm's commitment and effort in raising money for Save the Children.

"All the money raised for Save the Children from the Mini Monster in Leeds will be spent on our work across the UK with some of the most vulnerable children to ensure they get the best start in life."

Leeds will be one of only five cities throughout the UK to host a Mini Monster event.

FirstGroup has chosen Leeds because it is the parent company of a number of successful bus and train operations in Yorkshire.
Entry fees are £5 per person.

Twenty-five per cent of the entry fee will go direct to Save the Children.
