Roundhay Park will be the place to be over the weekend as the green gem hosts a series of open days promising fun for all the family this week.
A vast array of activities and attractions have been organised as part of Leeds City Council's parks and countryside open days.

This fun event for all the family continues throughout the weekend from 10am to 6pm both Saturday and Sunday at Soldiers Field.

Activities range from birds of prey and dog displays, gunge tanks, circus workshops, through to treasure hunts, hair braiding, tree carving, bouncy castles, and pony rides.

People of all ages are invited to come along and meet Leeds City Council's Parks and Countryside team and learn about the work they do.

The rangers will be offering guided walks and giving educational talks on conservation and the park's flora and fauna.

There will also be gardening advice and a nursery sale with the chance to buy a selection of shrubs, indoor tropical plants, planters, and much more.

Some of the team's partners, such as Askham Bryan College, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Natural England, a selection of Friends of groups, the RSPB, Trees for Cities and other environmental groups will have displays in the park.

Councillor John Procter, Executive Board Member for Leisure, said: "Once again the Parks Open Days are putting on something for the whole family. It really is a great opportunity to get involved with the environment, learn about nature and have fun outdoors."

* Parking and admission to the Parks and Countryside Open Days are free with parking available at Soldiers Field, off Princes Avenue.
