Oakwood will be hosting a very special festive Farmers' Market.
The market is being held at Oakwood Clock on Saturday, December 20, from 9am until 12.30pm.

In addition to the regular feast of specialty cakes, preserves, cheeses, breads, meats, fish, pies and vegetables, many of the traders will be selling Christmas Gifts – perfect for the Christmas dinner and all those last minute presents!

All the traders will be getting into the seasonal spirit by decorating the stalls in a festive way.

However, true to REAP's roots it will be in a recycled theme! They will be competing for the coveted prize of 'Best Dressed Stall' so it's sure to be a fun and festive morning.

All three Local Councillors - Valerie Kendall, Paul Wadsworth and Matthew Lobley, will be judging and presenting prizes of bottles of local wine from Levensthorpe Vineyard, on the morning.

If that wasn't enough local carol singers performing by the Christmas tree at various times through the morning and under 7's will be invited to participate in the 'guess the name of the sheep' competition which is free to enter.

Oakwood Farmers' Market is a monthly market which began in March 2008 and is the first project of the Roundhay Environmental Action Project (REAP). REAP is a voluntary action group set up by local residents in November 2007, whose aim is 'to work with other local people to find ways to promote practical local action on climate change and the environment'.

Open meetings in 2008 have generated new projects under REAP's coordination and support. These projects or themes include: Energy - research and solutions; Transport, Education, Gardening.

All project Groups are open to new members and ideas. If anyone is interested in joining any of these exciting initiatives or has any suggestions, please visit: www.roundhayaction.org.uk
