Bin lorry closes road in Leeds after overturning

A road near Leeds city centre was closed after a bin lorry overturned.

It happened in the Cross Green area, at the junction of the A61 and A63, at around 10am this morning (Monday).

Pictures show the lorry landed on the central reservation, smashing through the barriers.

Police and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service were called to the scene.

The AA said: "Road closed due to rolled over truck on A63 Knowsthorpe Crescent Southbound from Cross Green Lane to Long Causeway. The A61 South Accommodation Road from Cross Green Lane is also closed affecting traffic heading out of Leeds "

West Yorkshire Police have been contacted for more details.

The lorry has since been brought back upright and the road has reopened.
