Pupils at a Roundhay primary school have been baking buns for senior citizens as part of an effort to bring the two generations closer together.
Pensioners from Ashbourne Christian Care Home on Brackenwood Drive were invited to join children aged between eight and nine at Gledhow Primary
School for a bun-making session to commemorate St George's Day.

After being decorated with marshmallows, butter icing and sweets, the buns were shared between the residents and the children.

Teacher Debbie Whittaker said: "They loved it. They enjoyed baking the buns and talking to the residents."

The school is trying to create closer links with the home to span the gap between the two generations.

On a previous occasion pupils from the school went to Ashbourne to see Simon and Rosie, two donkeys who are regular visitors to the home.
