Stepping through the doors of The Royalty pub is to take a step back into history – but with every modern convenience, a warm welcome, stunning views, and now a new winter menu and fine dining experience.

The Royalty is a popular landmark pub with a rich history, situated on land previously known as the Manor of Guiseley. Constructed in the 18th century and named after the lords who first owned the land, it enjoys a prominent location at the top of Otley Chevin, with unparalleled views of the town and its surroundings. It proudly lays claim to the title of the highest licenced house in the Leeds Metropolitan area.

Today it is run by the Roberts family, who took over in September 2019. The current manager, Jonathan Roberts, is passionate about the industry and also runs the sister pub, The Fox & Hounds in Bramhope. He ensures that his team is knowledgeable and welcoming while serving the finest local produce.

As you enter The Royalty, you will be greeted with a warm and hearty welcome. The beautiful decor and cosy seating create a relaxing atmosphere and the walls are used to display fascinating old photos. It’s a place where you can unwind while enjoying great drinks and delicious food.

The Royalty's popularity rests not only on its stunning views but also on its fresh and locally sourced food. The pub's passion for the finest ingredients is evident in every mouthful. During the colder months, you can cosy up to the roaring fires or enjoy stunning panoramic views across Wharfedale from their vast outside seating and conservatory, which provides a birds-eye view of flights in and out of Leeds Bradford Airport.

The Royalty takes pride in its dog-friendly Tap Room, the name of which harks back to the days when beer was drawn by a tap straight from the barrel.

Whether you're popping in for refreshments after a long walk along the Otley Chevin or catching up with friends and family over some delicious food, The Royalty has something for everyone.

Winter menu

The Royalty recently released its new winter menu and radically revised its evening menu too.

Traditional pub food is still available for lunch, including its famous homemade pies, such as the succulent Steak & Riggwelter Pie, slow cooked for four hours in a rich Black Sheep Riggwelter Ale and onion gravy.

For those in the mood for a lighter lunch option, try any three light sharers for only £16. Choosing from a wide range of delicious options such as tangy and spicy buffalo chicken wings, bursting with flavour served with blue cheese dipping sauce, or velvety hummus and flatbread. Or how about bourbon glazed belly pork consisting of bite-sized belly pork chunks, glazed in a mouth-watering bourbon sauce and served alongside homemade BBQ dip.

The evening menu has undergone the biggest transformation, thanks to talented head chef, Matt and his team who have transformed it to offer discerning guests an elegant dining experience.

The evening menu boasts some exquisite dishes with starters such as bacon and black pudding hash topped with a fried egg and drizzled with mustard cream to premium main choices such as Confit duck leg served with creamy buttered mash, sweet chantenay carrots, and redcurrant gravy to tender feather blade slowly braised and served with horseradish mash, roasted garlic shallots, and veg, all topped off with a rich red wine gravy.

The change in approach caters to customers who crave both traditional and upscale dining experiences offering something to please old and new customers.
